An E-ticket is the most convenient train ticket that you can avail. Once you book an e-ticket all you need to travel is just to take the print out of the e-ticket. You need to have identity card with you while travelling on the train, details of which should match with details you provided while booking the ticket. An I-ticket unlike an e-ticket is not sent to your e-mail account but it is delivered to your address and it is similar to the ticket that you would have received if you have booked a train ticket on a railway counter. Tatkal is the last minute booking and you can get a tatkal ticket only 2 days before the scheduled departure of the train.

This is regarding the irctc login site. Everytime I login , the update profile comes and it doesnot proceed further that point. This is happening from the last three days and it is quite frustrating. I want to book the tickets but I am unable to do because of this problem. I have tried through the makemy trip.com also. When it comes to the point of loading the details of the booking, the loading continues unendingly and doesnot stop. There seem to be some problem with the irctc server. When does this problem get rectified??

When I logged in, inspite of giving my user id and pass word, I found the remark as follows: “incorrect user ID and Password. When I again logged in with using the “Forgot the Password link”, after having entered my user id, the system has asked the question ” What was my first school”. When I had answered, they system stated that my reply was correct. Even after entering my user ID and PW, I got the same reply of incorrect User ID and PW. I got the password to me email as mgp203 but mobile code no sent to my mobile No.8904780854 has not been available in my mobile as the was under switch off mode. The site(www.irctc.co.in) is always down in the morning & today it is down for the whole day(09/08/2011).Consider even if the 5 % of populations is even trying to get a reservation through the irctc site, what happens. the site hangs and work slow. On top of that, when we go to do the reservation on station or outlets,teh ticket giver asks us to book it online, why because it is more trouble for them. This is the single site for online booking for railway and why this site is so poorly performing. Please improve on server capacity.

I have reserved a ticket from Chennai to Bangalore and did not receive my e ticket as the ticket did not come I tried in once again but even then the ticket was not received and tried the third time and even then the ticket did not come but to my surprise I received 3 mobile intimations for failed transactions,

IRCTC website is often slow. Many times it debits your money if u are paying via netbanking and fails. It does not issue u your ticket. Yesterday at 10pm i was using this website. Initially it worked very slowly. After sometime it started functioning. When the moment came to issue ticket. It failed. 2 hrs later I got an alert about debiting money on mobile. Today, through out the day it is not working. It will refund me my money after 2/3 days but by that time many reservations may have happened. I think it is better to do reservations through travel agents or physically, by standing in long queues!

it is really shame on the part of irctc as every time i open the main website of irctc ,it wont load in time infact it takes a lot of time to load .
inspite of having sophisticated software technologies and also superior software service providers, irctc failed to maintain a dynamic website of its own.
irctc is one of the india’s fastest growing wing where there would be lot of expectations on the service of railways.but as a whole irctc failed to keep up those expectations. as an indian i m very guilty and sorry to say this.
